ASSISTANT COACH
$28 - $45 PER RIDE
ENGAGEMENT OVERVIEW:
Provide on-the-bike instructional support to the head coach and ride group throughout each session you accept. Demonstrate mountain biking skills when called on and assist in maintaining group accountability. Help foster an enjoyable experience for the youth riders.
Assistant coaches are accountable contractors who fulfill the sessions they have accepted. If an assistant coach is unable to perform a session they have accepted, they may arrange a qualified substitute from the Eligible Substitute Roster and notify the Company at least 24 hours in advance where reasonably practicable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Communicates effectively with the Company's logistics contact for scheduling and safety coordination.
Track record of reliable, on-time service delivery.
Strong mountain biking abilities.
Experience with teaching/instruction.
Good verbal communication skills.
Good emailing and SMS (texting) skills.
Ability to handle stressful/difficult situations.
Prior leadership or coaching experience is welcome but not required.
General knowledge of bike maintenance.
TYPICAL ENGAGEMENT SCOPE:
Provide assistant coaching support to a ride group of up to 12 youth participants for sessions of approximately 2.5 hours, coordinating with 2–3 other coaches engaged on the same Position Bundle.
Plan your arrival so that you are present and ready to support the head coach in receiving participants at the published session start time, accommodating parents who may drop off shortly before that time.
Support the head coach in delivering instruction, contributing your own demonstrations and coaching style as appropriate.
Help foster a safe and engaging environment for riders.
Notify the head coach immediately of any first-aid or emergency situations (the head coach holds primary first-aid responsibility under their certification) and assist in keeping the group calm.
Help maintain continuous accountability for all participants in the ride group throughout each session.
Coordinate with the head coach engaged on the same Position Bundle as needed for safe session execution.

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR DISCLOSURE
Coaches engaged by Wasatch Mountain Riders, LLC are independent contractors, not employees.
Engaged coaches:
Accept or decline session offers at their sole discretion.
Set their own coaching methodology, lesson plans, and instructional style.
Supply their own bicycles, tools, and transportation.
Are free to provide services to other camps, leagues, schools, and private clients, including during the Wasatch Mountain Riders season.
Are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and certifications.
Are paid per session on a 1099 basis.
